Successful participation in EN 13725 proficiency test

In September 2024, Olfasense GmbH participated in the odour emission proficiency test, including sampling at the emission simulation apparatus (ESA) organised by the Hessian State Agency for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology (HLNUG). The company successfully passed all four components of the test.

Within the scope of the odour emission proficiency test, odour concentration analysis was conducted according to EN 13725, and the flow conditions of the flue gas were measured according to EN 15259.

The proficiency test included the following components:

• n-butanol
• 3 additional substances or defined substance mixtures: organic solvent mixture (ETX), tetrahydrothiophene (THT), and artificial pigsty mixture
• gas flow conditions: flow velocity, temperature, water vapour concentration, static pressure, and volume flow

Olfasense GmbH also successfully participated in the voluntary additional measurements.

After sampling at the ESA, the odour samples were analysed using the TO8 evolution olfactometer in our mobile laboratory directly on-site near Kassel.

We are very pleased about our successful participation and would like to thank our colleagues Tabea Lamprecht and Holger Horn-Angsmann as well as the measurement team for their focused and excellent performance.

Regular successful participation in these proficiency tests is a prerequisite for maintaining a notification according to the German Federal Immission Control Act (§29b BImSchG).

The Olfasense GmbH laboratory also participates in the interlaboratory comparisons of the Olfasense GmbH proficiency test centre in August and September each year. In 2024, the odour laboratory successfully passed tests for n-butanol at various concentrations and other components, including THT, using the TO9 evolution olfactometer.
