SET 8: Identification of everyday odours

This set contains 12 sniffing sticks:

• Peppermint
• Fish
• Banana
• Orange
• Rose
• Lemon
• Cinnamon
• Clove
• Leather
• Green grass
• Coconut
• Cherry

Panellists have to identify the correct character for each sniffing stick out of 4 possible answers in a multiple-choice test.

This set can be used to train the perception and recognition of odours, and to determine whether a panellist’s sense of smell can be classified as “normal” or “restricted”, as described for example in the EN 16841-1.

General Instructions

This set of sniffing sticks consists of

• 12 sniffing sticks
• detailed test instructions
• USB stick with templates for realization and evaluation of test

The stability of the sticks is 6 months. A very regular use of the sticks might reduce the time of usability.
