Olfasense and Starlab partner for funded research in fragrance evaluation
We are excited to announce that Olfasense and Starlab Barcelona have secured funding through the prestigious Eurostars – Eureka programme for a 30-month research project that will focus on developing innovative products and services for evaluating functional fragrances in consumer goods.
Together with Starlab, Olfasense is collaborating to transform the way fragrances are evaluated by combining advanced techniques in neuroscience, sensory analysis, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The aim is to develop more accurate and efficient methods for assessing fragrance sensory impact.
The project will integrate implicit EEG/ECG measurements with established sensory analysis methods like dynamic olfactometry, odour intensity, and hedonic tone measurements. This innovative combination will offer a more comprehensive approach to fragrance evaluation, pushing the boundaries of current industry standards.
One of the key goals of the so-called Sniffcon project is to help the fragrance industry reduce ingredient usage in formulations with the same odour effect. By doing so, the project will lower production costs, ensure compliance with European allergen regulations, and enhance the sensory effects of fragrances.
